Air Vice-Marshal Saddiq Ismaila Kaita (Rtd.), born on 21 February 1965 in Katsina State, is a distinguished officer of the Nigerian Air Force, accomplished aviator, and academic. He began his education at Capital School, Kaduna, and later attended King’s College, Lagos, and Government College, Katsina. He proceeded to the Nigerian Defence Academy for advanced military training and furthered his studies internationally, earning a Master’s degree in Strategic Studies from the Bangladesh University of Professionals in 2012 and an MPhil in Defence and Security Studies from the NDA in 2019. He is currently pursuing a PhD in Security Studies at the NDA.
A seasoned pilot and instructor, AVM Kaita has over 4,500 flying hours and 1,500 instructional hours, complemented by professional training in flight safety and aviation management in Nigeria, Spain, the United States, and Bangladesh. His expertise and contributions to flight safety, training development, and innovation have left a lasting mark on the Nigerian Air Force.
Over the course of his illustrious career, he held several key command and leadership positions, including Air Officer Commanding Special Operations Command, Air Officer Commanding Ground Training Command, Deputy Commandant of the Nigerian Defence Academy, Director of Strategy at Defence Headquarters, and Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation. Renowned for his innovations in military aviation, he pioneered new training systems, digitized manuals, and developed safety standards that strengthened operational efficiency before retiring in 2021.
