The College of Health Sciences (CHS) on Tuesday, 21st May, 2024 honoured Mohammad Danlami Nasiru, who has recently retired from the services of Bayero University, Kano. The College described him as an astute administrator whose versatility in University administration would forever be cherished.
The Provost of the College, Professor Aisha Kuliya Gwarzo, said Malam D. Nasir had left indelible footprints on the sands of time and contributed immensely with zest and passion towards the overall growth and development of the College. She said he made a huge mark that the history of the College would never be complete without the name of Malam D. Nasir.
While wishing him well in his future endeavour, Professor Gwarzo said Malam Nasir would forever be remembered because of the instrumental role he played towards the creation of the College, saying that he had positively contributed in transforming the College to its current status.
Presenting the goodwill message, the Dean, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences, Dr Jibrin Mohammed, said the celebrant had impacted on both the academic and administrative spheres of the University.
According to the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Sciences, Professor Idris Mohammed, his faculty would miss M.D Nasir greatly, describing him as a remarkable achiever who had an impactful career.
Professor Babatunde Bambgbose, the Dean, Faculty of Dentistry, stated that the maturity and expertise brought by the retiring MD Nasir would be missed greatly. He wished him another journey of impactful career.
In his part, the Dean, Faculty of Basic Medical Sciences, Dr Rabiu Fagge, said he had known Malam since his high school days at College of Arts and Science (CAS), Kano as a committed and hardworking person, saying the latter had worked diligently in Bayero University, Kano.
The College Secretary, Hajiya Binta Kofar Naisa, in her remarks, said every administrative staff in BUK is a student of Malam D. Nasir because one must have learnt directly or indirectly from his wealth of experience.
Also speaking, the Director, Centre for Infectious Diseases Research (CIDR), Professor Muhammad Hamza, wished him well in his future endeavors.
Others who spoke include Malam Hafizu, Mustapha Isa, among others.
Responding to the goodwill messages showered on him, the celebrant, Malam D, Nasir said he joined the services of Bayero University, Kano in 1999 from CAS, Kano and retired from the services of BUK in 2024. He said he started work in October 19, 1984 and now retired after spending 39 years, in April 2024.
Malam D. Nasir gave a brief historical background of the contributions he gave towards the Faculty of Clinical Science and the building of the College of Health Science. He thanked the College for honouring him.
Both the College and the faculties presented gifts to the celebrant.
