Council Lodge

Bayero University, Kano, on Tuesday, 12th August 2025, stepped into a new era of elegance and prestige with the commissioning of its first-ever ultra-modern Council Lodge, a magnificent architectural masterpiece designed to host the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and members of the Governing Council.

The eight-suite apartment complex is a symphony of comfort and class, setting a new standard in university accommodation. From its plush, custom-designed cushion chairs and state-of-the-art beds with premium bedding, to its ultra-quiet central air-conditioning system and spacious, tastefully decorated common rooms, every detail reflects five-star hotel luxury. The interiors boast exquisite lighting fixtures, polished marble flooring,  two flat-screen smart TVs in every suite, en-suite bathrooms with rain showers, mini kitchenettes  and private balconies offering serene views of the campus.

Commissioning the facility, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, described it as a landmark achievement. “With this addition, the Vice-Chancellor’s residence is now complete, housing lodges for the Chancellor, Pro-Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor,” he said. “This will save the University millions of naira in hotel bills, while giving our guests an experience that rivals the finest hospitality facilities.”

Professor Abbas expressed profound gratitude to the Deputy Senate President, Senator Barau I. Jibril, for facilitating the project’s funding. Originally captured in the 2023 budget, the project reached completion after rollovers into 2024 and 2025. The Vice-Chancellor also commended the contractors, consultants and all contributors who ensured the Council Lodge’s delivery to the highest standards.
